*Sounds of a mirror* *Sounds of a mirror* Okay... *Sounds of a mirror* Does everyone have access to the mural board? Yes.
Um, I don't.
Let me send it in the chat for time. Okay, thank you. Okay, we are group one. Whoa, this is a very complex mirror board. Does someone want to kind of lead us through this?
I can.
Thank you.
Okay. Does anyone have any ideas for things they really want in the tool? I don't have any. Okay. I think maybe we can add like the basic stuff first. So like obviously we're going to want like lyrics, a good beat. What do you guys think like you like in a song? What are like parts of a song that you like? And maybe we can add things like that too.
I think one thing I really hate in GQM's songs is how they convey their message in the lyrics because sometimes there's really cool hidden like metaphors and I forgot the actual word for like references to other things yeah like meta or like I forgot the word I'm thinking. Allusions to other things, yeah. And sort of, yeah, metaphors, imagery.
And we're going to go to the next one. we can feel free to kind of even draw what the actual interface would look like when you open it.
What would you guys imagine the tool to look like? Personally, I would just imagine it to be similar to the other ones that we previously used. Does anyone have, like, any ideas for, like, a different thing?
Yeah, I agree. Like, something, like, similar to the other ones, it's, like, customizable to, like, the person using it. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, maybe we want to like draw kind of what this would look like so maybe like when you open the app or the platform, it has like a box that you can put in like the message that you want, something like that.
Okay. I'll like do like a computer screen
yeah
And we can even just look at the set of rules that you guys made where like it says like the third one is having different voice options. So maybe you input your message, whatever you want it to be. And then the next thing you do is like, what kind of voice do you want? And then... you guys said having different settings and options and adjustable settings to make it more personalized so a way to customize the beats maybe
Wait, so is the tool that we're creating, like it's going to be a setting within the AI music tool?
Can you clarify what you mean by that?
Like is it kind of supposed to be, like it's still part of the AI music tool that we were working with last week? Like it's just like an add-on or something that enhances the experience?
I guess you could say that it's like an enhanced version, but we're like building our completely like our own app. Okay, so it doesn't, but does it still have to be like, it doesn't have to be like the ones that we tested at all.
Oh, okay. So does it solve to be related to like AI music in general?
Yes, so yeah, it would still have to be AI music, kind of taking the other apps that we've tried in the past and seeing what we like about it and how we would like chase like take the good parts and make our own version of it. And then later we'll like actually code it so that we make something. This is kind of just like our prototype, kind of our blueprint of what we would want it to look like.
Okay, sounds good.
That's a good question. You guys can even play around with like colors so I think that would be really fun too. I think Mira has a lot of like shapes and icons that we can use. Let me see. Thank you.
Thank you.
I like how you guys are using the arrows too so it kind of shows the steps. We're just working on creating a prototype of our AI music app that we're later going to code and build. And here's the mural link for group one. And right now we're kind of just like going through. So so far the group has come up with inputting your prompt and then selecting your favorite voice, choosing your favorite instruments, and then I think. yeah that's where we're at and we're kind of just building out what it would look like
okay thank you so much
And then you Maybe we can also consider, like think, okay, which parts do we want it to just be human input and which parts do we want to have an option for AI to suggest things.
maybe we could have like a randomized button like that has to do with ai like you could click on that and then there could be randomized settings every time i like that you guys have thoughts on that
yeah um do you think you do that like after a prompt or like just like a completely random song.
- I think it would be like for specific, like for the specific slides we have right now, like for instrumental preferences, like based besides the, aside from the options that we have right now, like piano, guitar, drum set, and like being able to adjust those, there'd be like a randomized option. and then it would just do like a random combination of them
okay so we can just like add a little like button at the bottom maybe yeah that's what I said on your side okay sounds good
- I like that. randomized like because instead of it saying like AI generated it's a little bit like different because randomized I feel like could be good if you're like you really don't know like you don't want to choose and you just wanted to choose for you but you still have control over like if you want to AI to do it for you or not instead of just doing it automatically. It's like super cool so far. You guys could even go in and change the fonts and stuff if you want to. Literally could be anything. - - Okay, and then I After you adjust the amount of each instrument and voice, what are we thinking for the next action? I love the blue and the white. That's cool.
Maybe a slide on something about the plagiarism side of it, because we have a lot of bullet points on that. I'm not exactly sure how we would incorporate that, but maybe just a slide reiterating the fact that it's AI generated and talking about plagiarism.
Maybe like, so like before you officially make, ask it to make the song for you, it's like a pop up maybe? And like kind of like, do you want to proceed with this, something like that? Is that what you're saying?
Yeah. Yeah.
Okay. No, we're not completely done yet, but we'll have time to come back to this. So keep working on it, and we'll head back to the main room. Yay!
Yeah. I guess we're coming back. Most of you guys are here. So I saw that you guys came up with a lot of great ideas. And some of the teams actually worked on the next steps that we're working on, which is great. You guys get to save time. So I'll explain more about step two. This is, we're gonna work with the actual UI kits. And how that's gonna look is We're going to do feature ideations. So more detailed explanation and also a glimpse of how the itch function, the feature are going to work. And remember, again, yourself as a user. So don't think about like other people out there in the world, but think about you yourself. How do you want it to be like? How would you... how should it be designed so that it is working the best for you specifically. And yeah, we're going to work on the ideation first. And we're not going to be divided into the groups, but you can, we're going to, sorry, you're going to work in your group space, but we're not going to be in breakout rooms. We're just going to spend time all together. So if you follow this line underneath your, whatever you worked on just right now, you'll find this. and you can just grab one frame. And the reason why there's so many frames is so that you can work on more than one. So one frame should only have one feature. So it's the same mirror board, just follow your line and go to your group space. And then, or you can like zoom out and then find the step two sticky notes. And if you can think of like three UI kits, you can grab three frames. And so that for other people to work with the same kit as well, please copy and then paste on the frame, not drag it over because no one else would be able to use it. Feel free to also use sticky notes, drawing shapes if you would like, other than those UI kits right here as well. So we're gonna work on the same mirror board within this main room, and we're gonna have 10 minutes. And it doesn't have to be pretty, you can just go ahead and
Dani, can I ask you before you let them go, could I ask you to go over what that means? What is a UI kit? What's that big square in the middle? Oh, yeah.
That's a really great question.
Just in case you haven't done this before.
Yeah, of course. I'm not going to go over every element because I want you guys to be creative and even use it in the different ways that it was designed into. For example, let's look at this one. It's the volume fader. And, you know, it has the volume sign and the circle. You can move it. But if you want to, like, use it. I don't know, for something else, you can rotate it or change it however you want, and then design that feature that you guys just talked about in your group. So those are just like example, like sample elements that you can bring and use in the feature ideation that you guys are working on. But again, please copy and then paste on the frame so that other people can use it as well. If you don't like any elements that are here, you can simply draw it by yourself or use the shapes. But we're doing this so that the features that you guys were talking about just right now looks more concrete and it's visually presented. But for example like this one is the image icon, but you don't have to use it that way if you want to use it as Oh, this is gonna represent my diary. That's totally fine too And please add text so that people can understand what you have to design with and yeah Feel free to be creative create whatever you guys want based on what you just came up with and let's say the idea that you guys just talked about in step one was Drawing an animal which is totally a stupid idea, but if you feel like okay before drawing an animal We would have to name that animal then you can work on that feature as well So it doesn't have to be only about what you discuss, but could be an expansion on that as well I hope that makes sense. Yeah. Please let me know if anyone has a question.
Another question for me. Sorry. Just how I understood you.
No, that's great.
So in the 10 minutes that you're giving us to work on this, everyone does this individually. We're going to work on as many features individually as we'd like, right? Yes. So it's not just the main screen or just like, it's just... as many as we want.
Uh-huh. So it could definitely be main screen, but it could also be the step before that or step after that, or even another feature that you would like to add on the main screen idea.
Got it. Okay, cool. Just clarifying. Thank you.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for pointing that out. Okay. So we're going to have 10 minutes and let's go. Thank you. So if you joined late, go to the mirror board on the chat, find your group space step 2. So if you just follow the line, you will find the step 2 space. And then grab however frames you would like to design that feature. or an expansion of the feature or add a feature. You can also draw it instead of using the kits that I provided or just use sticky notes as well.
I just want to double check, does anyone not have access to the mirror board and would like to tell us what to do and we can do it for you on the board? Everyone has access to the mirror board. Great. Cool. If not, DM us or on the chat.
So, So again, it's one feature per frame so that we can kind of like separate it in each frame and see it all more clearly. So feel free to come up with like a weird element as well. If you want to add like an Easter egg to your tool or you want to add some fun, that's totally fine too. It doesn't have to be perfect because those are just ideas. You can also think about another way to make that feature you just discussed about in different ways as well.
We have about two minutes left so try to if you already did one feature try to start another one. Thank you.
I always love that sound effect so much. All right, so I have removed some frames that don't have anything. I'm pretty sure it was all empty frames, so that you guys can see the ones that have some features and content. And now, for two minutes, go ahead and take a look at your teammate's features and react with stickers or sticky notes. If there's anything overlapping with yours, you can talk about, oh, we can combine it like this, or let's go with this one for this reason, and so on. So two minutes react within your team to each other's feature and react outside of the frame. So it doesn't, you know, change anything about the feature. Okay, two minutes. Go ahead and leave some stickers sticky notes reactions to each other's frame. place your reactions like outside of the box. Can be like, oh, I like this. We should definitely have it. Or we should change this like that. Yours is like the same with mine, but let's change it like this and that and so on. You can use sticky notes, stickers... Try to leave reaction for every feature if you could. You can also react to your own feature like I really want this. Alright, 30 more seconds. Again, try to react to every feature that your teammate have come up with. if there's any feature that doesn't have any reaction please go ahead and leave a reaction for that as well and give a little comment if you really don't like something you can talk about oh maybe we should change it just in that way i still see some feature that doesn't have reaction i think it's because you know some people worked on multiple features which is great and others are still taking a look at it. I'll give you guys 30 seconds, another 30 seconds. And this is within your group, so... Okay, we're going to transition into next phase and let me explain about it first. So we have just reacted. So originally I was only going to let you guys bring the feature that has like key reactions, but I think you can discuss in your groups which features to bring into the main feature box. It's right here, the final features. So whatever you guys have discussed and have rich consensus, like this one has a hard and sticky note so we can definitely bring this here like this. But talk within your groups about this. And now we're gonna first work on two elaboration filling in the blanks, which is right here, step three. So let me unlock those frames for you guys. Now you can see it. It's right beneath the features, the final features, and then here. So what you're going to do is you're going to fill in the blanks. So please discuss within your team to fill in those blanks. There are total five blanks because there's two for question three. And then after that you're gonna work on your user flow. So what user flow basically is, is showing how the user would navigate through your tool. So it will look like this, this is an example, like a little silly example that I made for you guys. Let's say user clicks the plus button, user can either create a document or create an image. They type it and then AI makes the content. And it doesn't have to be perfect, that's why I'm showing you guys ugly lines like this. And it can definitely go back to the previous phase. And then I just want you guys to use different colors for start, end, and then the tool and user. I have specified the color keys in the user flow tab, so don't worry about this. So again, just to go over the steps again, you guys discuss what are going to be the final features and then bring them like, oh, sorry, click it, bring the frames into final features. Now you see the final features, looking at those, talk about how to fill in the blanks right here. After you have completed filling in the blanks, transition here and then make the user flow. The easy way is that someone who knows how this tool operate, you guys probably know by discussing it here, can just start and make more steps. Good thing about Miro is that if you click here, like hover, it creates another square, like boom. So you can easily do it like here, if you hover here, or you can also hover here as well. And then another person can go ahead and add more steps or going back steps or another step. What if the user doesn't like it? Or what if user wants to change this and that? So different thing once again. Drag in the final features over here, click on the frame and then drag it. Looking at the final feature, fill in the blanks. After filling in the blanks, you go on to user feature. Please let me know if you guys have any questions. There's no right or wrong, this is about your tool. So try to fill in as many details as possible so they will be built accurately. And also after this, if you, I think you can transition right away, you're gonna choose one main color for your tool. But I think we can just go until this phase for now and then let's come back to main room. Okay, so let's be in breakout rooms. bye have fun
I think you're muted.
My bad. My bad. I was saying I loved your guys' features that you came up with. And I like how they all ended up being purple. You guys kind of edited it as we went. So we're on step three and we're kind of just answering these prompts of what we want this tool to really be like. And then we'll go into the user flow. Who wants to lead this action? You guys can kind of just like openly discuss each prompt too. I think that's probably the easiest.
I kind of like- I like all of her slides.
Is the flow of just about the music making part specifically or the entire website?
The flow. I think it's just making the music and song.
Okay, cool.
But I think before we get into that, let's do step three first and then go to the flow. So the first question. asks, oh okay, this tool is like, and then we fill in the blank, a character, object, personality that helps you express your emotion through music creation. So you can think of it as like, what is this, like the role of this tool in your life? And like, what would you describe it as? Like, for example, like this tool is like a journal that helps me express my emotions. Or this tool is like a, I don't want to say companion, but, or like, is that one friend that I can always rely on? Something like that. And it's up to you guys. Don't take the things I just said. Unless that's what you would-
I don't know, I just see it as an AI tool.
Okay, yeah. That's also something. What do you guys all think? Do you agree?
disagree. I kind of agree that I would just think of it as like an AI tool. I'm not sure I would think of it as like a real thing.
Does someone want to type that down? Thanks Ellen. Okay, and then number two, to let understand my emotions I use. So this one gets into the features basically. So what's the main thing that this app would have that touches on your emotions?
I think the main thing that encompasses emotions would just be when you input the first prompt. in making the music because everything else is more technical stuff, instrumentals and whatnot. Yeah.
Yeah, I agree.
Okay, and then number three, when I input my emotions, the tool reacts by showing, changing, creating, and then specific element that it changes. Or, yeah.
Well, after you input the prompt... It doesn't like create the song like just yet. So maybe we could say like bringing you to the next slide so you can continue like editing your song.
Any thoughts? Okay. I think that means that we all agree. So when you input your emotions, a tool reacts by taking you to the next page.
Maybe we could include like an and and then changes some aspect of the music just so we're showing that like the tool does change something about it based on what we're telling it to do.
So, would this, um, would you guys want it to give you, like, a first sample of the song? Or, cause it looks like, let me see, the next step in our, when we did our, like, prototype is. selecting your favorite voice. So would you want it to like make a sample of the song and then you can change the voice or how would you want that to work?
Maybe like giving specific voices based on the prompt. So like you can choose based off of like a already like picked through song voice list.
That's a good idea.
Yeah, I like that. Something about having a bunch of options that you can decipher from and choose which one fits exactly what your mood is. Because I think just stating what mood or what emotion you're looking for in your song can be kind of subjective based on who you are. *cough* *cough*
*cough* Yeah, and it really- Yes, like AI is the one that's giving you the voice options, but it also allows you to have some sort of agency over that process. *cough* Okay. Um... And then number four is: To keep your wishlist from last session, we'll have a blank feature. What's like a feature that you guys really want to have?
I think like for like the wishlist part, I think a good feature that we have is like choosing of the instruments. Because I think a big part of the wishlist was like wanting to have like more control over what instruments and things are in the song.
anyone else have other things they'd want to have or do you agree
I think my main thing was just to, I want for control over what the AI makes.
Yeah, I agree also. I think it's like also being able to toggle between specific settings for each instrument. And just like that kind of setting was a big thing that we were talking about last time.
Can you clarify what you mean by the setting?
Like for example, for the instruments, you could choose the amount of each instrument you wanted in each song and you could kind of like listen to it and then if you didn't like it, you could like toggle back and forth between the amount where maybe like the amount of base and just like a lot more settings that you can edit and change.
That makes a lot of sense. Does someone want to jot that down? That we can go into the user frame or the user, I forget what it's called. user flow. Let me... Okay, awesome. So now we're gonna move on to the user flow. So this is literally step by step what happens when you open the app and all the steps that the user would take when they use the app. So I like screen or I copied the examples so that you guys can see what it could look like. But yeah, what, let's just kind of see break it down. So when someone opens the app or the website, what's the first thing that they do?
I think their first prompted with like the AI prompt thing where you can kind of type in what you're looking for or like what kind of music you want to make to make it pretty open-ended.
I think that's the first thing too.
Okay, so I think you just click on the box and you should be able to just like add yeah if you click on like the blue dot hover over it and then you just click the arrow it should automatically make the box for you let me share my screen okay name yeah i think if you hover over this it can make a new box so hoover wants to do that maybe olivia
i think because you're selecting it right now it doesn't let us like my bad
yeah there you go just let me know next time Yeah, it's okay. Okay. And then after they input the prompt, what happens?
Maybe like the pop-up with the warning about plagiarism or just like saying that this tool uses generative AI.
Yeah, I think that would be good to do right after the prompt. And then after that we can do like the voice or um… how they're kind of based off the prompt as well.
- And we can color code these as we go as well. So like the first one would be blue. And I know we also had, you guys wanted to do like a randomized button. So that would be different, like that would be a different like step. I guess it'd be like two different steps that could happen. So you want to be able to show like it kind of branches off. So like either people can choose like the instrument they want or they can. Where are you going? Where are you going? Where are you going? There we go. and then kind of like the example honestly if you like the randomized option you can choose yes or you can like go back to the like manually selected And also maybe someone can go in and color code the boxes.
I feel like a lot of these preferences are actually more just the person chooses all of them and the tool does more actually generating the songs. We're not really there yet in the flowchart.
Do you want to specifically which sections you want to change?
Uh... Like, for example, the generated AI warning, the tool does have that pop-up, but whether they proceed or not is entirely up to the user. And voice options, like the AI does skip the voices, but the user also picks, is the one who picks the voice. And it's sort of like a mix of both instead of just one or the other.
Yeah, I think here maybe this one needs two, one where it stops there and then another one where it keeps going into the one we have. And then maybe the voice options and even- and obviously instrument options has two, but we need another thing for the voice options. thanks for pointing that out All right. And then we will We want to make sure we have something like if what if someone says no, where would they go next? And this gets pretty complex. And then generate song, would that be like, or like you click generate song and then the next one is the actual song. I think we might Okay. Ooh, that's interesting. User rating the song. And then we also need when would we get to the final product. Okay, I'm going to close breakout rooms, but you guys will still have like a minute.
Hi! So I saw that all of you guys had a great time with the user flow and even the main color. So I wanted to debrief about this. You guys are gonna choose one or more if you want. Colors to be the main color, the theme of your tool. So you can talk about what is gonna be the vibe of this tool. And after that you're gonna come up with the main screen. So I will open this right here. So you can definitely do more than one screen, but this is to help you. the live building process about how this tool will mainly look like. So you can either just bring the final feature screens that you had here and kind of like elaborate on it, or you can start from the scratch. If you want to have more than one main screen, you can just copy paste the screen and then have more. But try to put as many details as you want and use that main color that you came up with as well. And to choose a main color, you can click on the square and then just click on it and then choose a color. If you don't like any colors here, you can also click on the plus button here and then choose it like this. But yeah, and then after that, we're going to have a break. All right.
Okay. Let's finish up our user flow first. And then maybe someone can start on our final main screen. So it looks like we are just choosing a main color. Let me see. And then we can come up with a name as well. So if you guys go to the very last box where it says final main color and name, that's where we're going to go to. do you guys have ideas for names maybe something related to the color that you guys chose No one has ideas. Do you guys think that it should have AI in the name?
Yeah. Are we picking a name for the whole entire thing?
Yeah.
Okay. I like the idea of having the purple AI in the name. Also, I don't know exactly what, though.
Yeah, I think I also think it should have AI in the name because then it won't be misleading, especially for people who don't have that much experience with AI tools.
Maybe like a play on words with like the purple. I mean on my screen is kind of blue but... I definitely think that coming up with the name is pretty hard. Thank you.
There's a color, it's not really close to the purple, it's like a purplish-greenish sort of color. And it's called ocarina, you can sort of make a pun on that with the instrument called ocarina.
Oh, interesting. What is this instrument? I've never heard of that.
It's a wind instrument. I don't really know too much about it, but my brother 3D printed one.
Wait, that's super cool. Wow. I kind of like that. What do you guys think?
I think that would be a good name.
Yeah, I agree. I like it.
made this great name. Honestly, I would try not with that name. Okay, I think we're also supposed to put stuff on the final main screen, so like what it would actually look like, and I think we can just grab some of the stuff that you guys did in step two and put it there. So, I think, yeah. Kind of just take that and then maybe just put arrows on like the order of how those would go. And I think I have to head back to the main room. And then after this, after we take our break, we'll get to actually... do some coding or I guess I will and see how this could actually look like and work with like working buttons and everything. Have you guys ever done like an activity like this before? Like have you used like UX UI kits and user flows? Because I haven't.
no I feel like we've done stuff similar to this in YAB but maybe not exactly like this
yeah for sure okay I think we can go back
All right. I guess some groups were still working on it. If the things look like need more details, I'll give you guys more time. But for now we're gonna have 10 minutes break and then meet up after that to actually build a tool that we came up with. All right, see you guys in 10 minutes.
Okay. everyone let's start coming back and please turn on your cameras we have 30 more minutes of this session you got this um we're gonna do a quick check-in so in the chat and just put your how you're feeling in your mind body and heart like always And then after that we'll move on to our final activity. So again, in the chat yep just put how you're feeling okay you can keep adding in the chat but Danny do you want to lead us into our last activity yes so this is a
fun part we're actually gonna do live building your facilitators you're gonna be there to work on this how this is this gonna work is that we're gonna use gemini to bring your tool into life and your facilitators will share the screen and type in however other any modification you want to make and they can also just change the code here in case it's about like the title octarina But you can change what it says from the code and it will automatically update on the preview But you can also say oh, I don't like you can tell the facilitator I don't like the font or I don't like the logo Can we change it to this and that and they will type the prompt to change it? And it will be shown to you guys as they're sharing the screen and a while they're sharing the screen you will also I See the sketch? Let me share the screen like this. Like this side by side so that you can, while you guys are seeing the preview of the app and prompting to change, you will also see your tool, idea and the rules so you can refer back to it and try to align it. Alright, let's do it.
Just to double check, should we, because I don't, do I have to refresh to see?
Yeah, I'm also in the Gemini. Do I have to be in the group two?
Yes, you would have to refresh the whole thing. And do you see the chat? I will, you have to open through the. hamburger menu right here to close and open I think mine's still loading I just refreshed it okay and if you don't see you can also go to my stuff and you will see this Octarina is group one no time group two group three is still modifying some stuff so yeah do you guys see it Okay, I see it now. Okay, great. Yeah.
Okay. I'll open it. Okay. Okay. Okay, where is everyone? There we go. Okay, let me share my screen. So Danny put in a prompt into Gemini and it basically made the app. So now what we do is we can prompt it to change whatever we want. Sorry. Full screen. um this is also my first time doing this so bear with me so yeah it created a fully working functional app which is pretty cool um so it took like the user journey that we created and then um all the features that we wanted and then it created this so this is what it looks like um so i guess we can just test it so does anyone have a prompt that we want to try out this is pretty cool anything could be crazy could yeah and if you guys could turn on your cameras that would also be great that would make this more fun
Sorry, I can't turn on my camera right now but maybe you could say something like um like i'm feeling a little
tired sorry i think we're all feeling a little tired i think that's a good um
and like generate a song that is like more upbeat like a little uplifting
Okay, want to add anything else to that? Okay, I'm going to take that as a no. Continue. Oh, perfect! So this has the pop-up that we wanted. So this tool uses generative AI to translate your emotions into sound. All compositions are unique and generated in real time.
do you guys was that what you guys were envisioning i think so and i just want to say i think that's actually pretty cool that i can like design all this literally based off of what we just did
it's sort of scary when did ai get this when ai get this advanced i know that's what i'm saying
okay Select your favorite voice tailored based on your prompt. So yeah, this gave us, it gave us like four options and then it also has an option to randomize, which is what we also, what are we feeling?
When we click one, it gave us a sample.
Let's see. So that didn't give any-- Wait, let me click Next. You're welcome. OK, so maybe-- let's go back. Can I go back? Oh, we can go back. So maybe we can prompt it to-- like, if we click on one of these, it can play a preview. Would you guys want that? I feel like that's cool. Yeah.
Yeah, that's kind of what I envisioned. Because these words don't really tell us how the voice sounds.
Yeah, okay. Let me see. I don't even know how to prompt this. When we select... so that it gives us a preview before we click go to the next one. I'm so curious. This is like, I've never done anything like this. Okay, so it says I'll update the application to include the live voice preview feature. and they'll integrate it with the text to speech API. So when you select a voice, you can hear it. And then he, my bad, it's not a person. It's added a play preview button within the selected voice icon. And I think it's gonna take some time to like load I think once this thing like stops going then it will update. It looks so like nice. Like the design in my opinion. Okay, let me type that in again. So I'm feeling a little tired. Can we generate this song that's upbeat and lifting? Okay, let's try. Oh, look at that.
I am the breath of the cosmos floating through your melodies.
Okay, we're not- no, no.
Oh my god. Is that a horror Game Boyce? What is that?
I'm not sure. I'm not sure how this is upbeat or uplifting.
I think ASMR has been used for too many ASMR audios and that's why they're all whispering.
Oh my god.
Yeah, what's up? Stories are better told.
Okay, let's just keep going with this so then we can talk about how bad it is. *laughs* 'cause this is really-
What if it whispers for the entire song?
Oh my goodness, okay, let's- let's just go with- wait, what is this one? I just don't-
Find your center in the harmony of silence and sound.
I think we're gonna- I- I like Serene. Do you guys like Serene? That's creepy.
I think Serene is the most normal.
it's the only one that doesn't whisper okay so then we go to instruments and it has oh wow um instrumental preferences you guys have any synth synth okay i like synth i'll include these anything else
Maybe drums.
Okay, let's see. I mean, I feel like it's pretty upbeat. For speed, I mean, it just has like the percentage.
I don't know how- Can we get like 70%-ish?
Okay, 70.
I don't know the range, so hopefully that's fine.
and then complexity sure yeah let's just leave it there
I don't really know
and length I don't know okay mixer adjust volumes to refine your expression Do you guys want to generate it?
Okay.
Okay. Are we ready? Yay. Okay. Hello. um it's broken it doesn't click it doesn't work wow this code is insane i could not do that okay so it isn't working the play button doesn't play the song It's programmed the tool to generate an emotional vocal preview using Gemini TTS engine. When you click play on the final screen, the AI will perform a melodic vocalization. Okay, let's just wait. I think it might restart everything, but that's okay, we can try a different product. Okay, so looks like we have to restart. Let me just type it in. Do you guys want to try a different prompt or just continue with the one we had?
I think maybe just continue with the one we had.
Maybe I could add a little more specificity to it, just a little bit.
Yeah, so I'm feeling tired. Generate a song that's upbeat and uplifting. What else?
Do we want like a little story or something? Like really short? Like, I don't know. Maybe.
Go ahead.
You can go.
Go ahead.
Maybe like if we're already feeling tired, maybe we can just be more descriptive. Like today's felt like walking up a really steep hill or I don't know, something that's like a little bit more descriptive to give them more language to work with.
It's so gloomy. It's so gloomy.
Yeah.
It was gloomy. It's so gloomy and depressing. Okay, we're gonna go with that. I'm just gonna click through. You guys wanna try the randomize?
I'm sure. Just to see if it works.
Yeah. Okay, so it kind of just like-
Ooh!
Wait, that's cool. Oh, it randomizes everything.
Oh, that's cool.
Let's just go with that. And then maybe take out piano. I don't know. Um, okay.
Still can't edit the instruments for some reason.
Okay. 10 seconds. Okay.
Please work. It's subgenerating maybe.
Yeah, probably.
It does take a little bit, so... Hopefully it's not still doing this by the time we need to go for the meeting ends.
I want to hear what it sounds like. ugh this is taking too long but the design of it is pretty like
yeah the ui's pretty good
I guess this is what people call vibe coding. and it's only 10 seconds i feel like this feature right here shouldn't even be an option if you can't even listen to it yet it should be like on the next page yeah i agree with that
um
what a great song wait so where'd the song go that was the song why is it 11 out of 10 seconds that's the song right there he just helps great oh final master wait i guess you can make this like okay this uh What do you guys want to say about it?
Where's the instruments? Where are the instruments?
And lyrics, maybe? Like, where's everything?
Why is it just a man humming?
I think it's also like too short. I don't know, we'll see.
Okay, I don't get... I think this is just like a glitch.
That's a previous one.
So it's basically the same.
Did it regenerate or...?
I don't think so. I don't think it would have been that fast.
Can you make it ten times longer? Let's try that. Okay.
I don't think it's regenerating things.
I think we have to make a new piece. Let me see if we have enough time to... Okay, wait, we have to come back for reflection, but this was fun. And it was not successful. Okay.
Okay, this is the last part of today's activity. We're going to reflect on the tools that you just made. Ellie and Rodem would be great if you could click on share and then put the link on the Muleboard on the screenshot page so that they can just easily click it. Do you guys know how to do it? Did you find it? I'll show you. So you can click on share button right here. Share. And then it will create a link. So if you could copy this link and then just, you know, make a text box. And then paste the link. like this so that the
text back where just so everyone finds those links
yeah on the screenshot so instead of putting screenshot if you could just maybe you can also use sticky note as well so that they can go in and try it I'll put large sticky notes for all the groups Here we go. Oh nice! Ally is using the sophisticated link one. And meanwhile everyone, based on what you saw, and also you can go ahead and try the link once again, you can reflect on the questions provided here. How accurately could you express your emotion with it? How accurately was the tool incarnated through the live building process that you just went through with your facilitators? How's your experience with it? And you like it when you don't like it. And I'm going to give you guys five minutes to reflect on your group spaces. So how to find it? If you zoom out, on the bottom there are the reflection space. Or you can also just follow the lines like this. Then you'll be there. So yeah, I'll just get rid of it. Okay, group three, I'll put the link right now. There you go.
And then you didn't want us to put screenshots?
I don't think so, it's okay. Okay. Yeah, it was originally for outer groups, but... okay for now um go ahead and come to your group space on the very bottom everyone it's the same mirror link share it once again on the very bottom there is a reflection space so yes come down there you go and then Reflection. Okay, try to put at least one sticky notes for all four questions. The mirror board link is shared on the chat once again. So come down and answer questions on the reflection. Okay, two more minutes. Sometimes I found that the Gemini website doesn't open for some computers in that case you can just think about your experience, what you just saw through your facilitators monitor, and then reflect on that. We have two more minutes to reflect. Fill in at least one sticky note for every question. Feel free to fill in more than one sticky note as well. okay one more minute for reflection and make sure you're in your group space Try to answer for every question because some questions are easier to answer or think about. Okay, 30 more seconds. There's four questions. Group three, I'm seeing that you guys might have seen only the one space. There's four if you zoom out a little bit. Yes. Okay, I see some of you guys are still writing, so I'll give another 30 seconds. Group two, if you could also answer the first question and maybe what you didn't like. I think you really liked it. I see that. A lot of red papers empty, which is great. But if you could think about anything, that'd be great. In group three, we can think about question one, two, and four as well. It could be just one word answer as well. Okay, I will let you guys keep on adding and meanwhile I'm just gonna go to our last slides. So this was our last session and if I see you guys again, I think it might be something similar to what we did today and also wanted to share my email. Also share it in the chat if you want any feedbacks for your own project, if you have questions about my research or school life I guess, or you're interested in UX research, theme design, music information retrieval, maybe I can answer those as well. We have another journal question that is specifically about the vibe you want to turn into music and how the tool that you built today would help it. And yeah, I will toss it to Rodem and Ellie for the announcements.
Yeah, first, let's just give a huge thank you to Danny in the chat or just out loud. It's been so cool getting to work with you for the last five sessions and Yeah, I really, my group didn't love the song that our app created, but it was really cool to see it come to life. But yes, please fill out your research journals today before you leave. I love reading them, and I also appreciate when your answers are really thoughtful, because... that I actually have stuff to say about it. But yeah, fill out your research journals, especially since this is also the last session that we have with Dani, so you can kind of reflect on the last five as a whole and how you feel about this one. And then, Rodem and I are working on... I guess I'll let Rodem talk about this because...
Yeah, no, that was a good start. I have two things today. One again, thank you, Danny. This was super cool. And from reading the journals, I know people have had a lot of really cool thoughts after these sessions. Here's my announcement. Next, next week, the week after we'll be starting kind of a new series of sessions. I'll be leading those together with a colleague from abroad. Finland, we're going to collaborate with international Yabs to do a really cool project. So come excited. Yeah, I'm very, very excited to see global perspectives on talking about tech and democracy and rights, the whole thing. It'll be really fun. Come to that. Other than that, we're planning two in-person sessions towards the end of the year. The first is kind of a more informal one on April 18th. We'll send out more details soon, but if you already... are like, I need to plan out my April 18th. That would be really cool if you could be here. We'll send out on the next email, kind of a poll, whether you'd like it to be at UW or somewhere on the Eastside. UW is easier for us, Eastside I assume is a little bit easier for you, but we can figure it out together as long as we get together and chat. It's always nice to see our faces. And just like last year, for those of you who are returning, we are, we have been accepted to present our work at the iSchool Spring Showcase. That is May 28th at UW. I'll say more details about it later, but it's this giant showcase about where different students show their projects throughout the year, and we will show our projects. Again, we'll talk about it more, but it was a lot of fun last year to do and share a poster and have uh you all talk to professors and students and you know get experiences but we'll talk about
more details later and then Allie the rest of yours yes so this Friday is something called it's also called global day of unplugging but it's a day where people get off of their screens and plug into real life and so half the story the organization that I work for is hosting a that encourages people to unplug for an hour and Jonathan sent out the email today that has all that information so just something cool to do with your friends and Kind of get off of your phones and your computers and then also wanted to plug that We mentioned this a couple weeks ago but the youth mental health summit that a previous YAB member was a part of is happening on March 21st from 10 a.m. To 4 p.m. in Renton and I will be there and it'd be super cool if you guys are interested in learning more about like mental health awareness and there's gonna be a lot of cool people from legislators to like school leaders and obviously a lot of young people as well, I think like middle school and high schoolers so that's also a great opportunity and
Yeah.
Yeah. Well, cool. Thank you, everyone, for all your work today. And we'll see you soon.
