but still getting confused so okay um this is room yeah group two okay so all you all on the mirror board yeah great yeah i will Meanwhile, I'll also announce that to other rooms. Hi, sorry, I'm managing two rooms. Please go into the mirror board first and then be on the song one space. You know what? I'm just going to do two rooms at the same time. I'll share sound. And share sound here as well. I already listened to all of your songs, which was great. Like I was surprised. It's genuinely good. Wait, so how do we like listen to the other one? I'll play it. Oh, okay. Okay. Let me play for the song, first song for group two. Min Wai-oh. For group three, just in case you don't hear any songs right now, right? something new but okay great I'll play the first song for you guys let's go MooBirds Okay, I guess that was the end of the first song. So please write down the reaction notes. I can't see.
My mirror isn't loading. Sorry? My mirror isn't loading. Oh, it isn't loading?
yeah okay um or you can write down your note somewhere else and then just send it to me like someone this note and then i'll just copy paste it later on all right okay sounds good thank you though okay i'm gonna play the next song for you guys and again if it's your song don't put anything the secret. Okay, that was song two. So I see that you guys are already putting up notes actively, which is great. Yeah. Try to think about any keywords. Feel free to be imaginative because there is no right or wrong. There is kind of right or wrong, but... This is about how you perceive it. So if you feel like, oh, it's like rainbow cat, feel free to jot that down as well. So that was second song. I'm gonna play third song for you guys. Okay. Okay, here we go with the third song. That was the third song of group two. And then I'm going to play song four. I'm also surprised how like so different each songs are. But this is the fourth one, number four. Let's go. . All right, so that was the fourth song and I'm gonna go on to the fifth song, song number five. So wrap up the comments that you were giving. Try to also think about what would have been the prompt, like what would have been in the keywords.
And...
Let me play next one.
Let me play next one.
Okay, so group two, I believe you have listened to all the songs. Please let me know through chat if I didn't play your song. Or if there's anything, any song that you want to listen to again because you missed it or you missed to leave reaction, please let me know as well. and I'll gladly play it again. Okay, if you guys don't have any songs that you want to listen again because you missed it, please just review your comments if you left comments for every song. And also you can look at your own song's comment, kind of see what people said about it. I guess did. are coming back. I myself genuinely enjoyed this listening party. The songs are so good. I mean, I think it's your prompt that did it well. Because last time, when we just tried to make one prompt, it wasn't as good as this. But let me share my screen once again. and thank you everyone for leaving such great comments and great guesses about what the prompts would have been um all right so the next part is you all left some reactions and now you are gonna go find your song if you're unsure you can message either me or ally because we have all the names matched with the songs about hey what number was i um but you probably remember it by in the comments and then you're gonna put your actual prompt to reveal the secret And then you're going to put thumbs up for crack guesses, heart for wrong guesses, rock guess for someone right and wrong. I'll put this screen over here so you guys can see it. And I'm actually going to rebuild this. Oh, I am not. Okay, I was screen sharing. I got scared that I wasn't. I'm gonna rebuild all those frames right here because those are where your original prompt and your comment is going to be on. So go find your song. If you don't remember which number it was, feel free to ask either me or Ali through chat or you can speak up as well. So let's say if you were this song, then you're gonna use this space. And you're gonna copy paste your actual prompt that you used. And then you're gonna mark each comment by using this feature right here. And so on. I will answer the chat pretty soon, but let me... just copy-paste it on the chat as well. All right. For those of you who messaged me, I'll answer right away. But let's spend about 10 minutes on this. and make sure you're in the right group space because if you're song number 10 in group 3 but if you marked in the group 2 number 10 that'd be wrong so yes feel free to ask me for the song if you don't remember and I left it in the chat how to mark it And then you already see it, but if you... Sorry. Okay, you already probably see it, but there's an overall comment section as well, but you can only do it after you're done reacting. for all the comments, then you can talk about how accurately people actually felt the emotion that you tried to convey. Let's first to the reaction pie. And if there's any confusion or like you feel like this is my song but someone else is leaving the comment, please let me know. I'll fix that for you. If you're on the right side, you would have to look at the right frame. Oh, sorry. I'm gonna... I think I might have confused one group. Oh. And And once you're done reacting, you can put overall comments about how correctly people felt your emotion and why do you think it happened or what happened. If you're confused about your group as well, just tell me. I'm confused about, so am I the one who's putting the original prompt? Uh-huh. Oh, yeah. So are you asking if you should put the, oh, yeah, you're the one who's putting the original prompt. So you can just copy paste the one that you used. Okay. Thank you. And yeah, if you're done with reacting, go on to the overall comment part and leave your overview as well. What happened? Why do you think it happened? And what do you think? Did people feel the same emotion or did anyone feel it differently? and so on. So again about the reaction, thumbs up for correct guesses, heart for wrong guesses, rocket for somewhat right and wrong. So Please let me know if there's any other confusions about your songs. If you're a If you're unable to put up some sticky notes for some matter, you can just send it to either Ali or me myself so that we can also put it up. Oh, also feel free to go back to your own comment and what the actual prompt was. I think that might be fun to see as well. And how other people prompted their songs as well. I see that some of you guys are using stickers to react. That's fun too. So again, you have to put your actual prompts and then put reaction for others' comments on your song. Thumbs up right, heart wrong, rocket somewhat right and wrong. Totally okay to be wrong because this is just what AI did. And then your overall comments about what happened, why do you think it happened. Sorry? Oh, never mind. Okay. Oh, for reaction, you can go with the beanie like below the notes left side, and then little icon is gonna pop up and then you can click it to react or you can use stickers as well, if you prefer that. And then if you're on the right side, you would have to look for your frame on the right of the comments for the overall comment section. And if you're on the left, left side. Okay, I guess most people were done. If you're not, please wrap it up, put something up, at least a few keywords. And now what we're going to do is we're going to do some sort of like an affinity diagram where we come up with as many sticky notes as possible, mostly keywords rather than sentences. So if you can only think about sentences, you can break that into a few words as well. And now we're going to come up with conclusion sticky notes. But let me show you how that works because I've changed the format a little bit. So it's gonna be new mirror board, not the one that we just used. It's gonna be the final board of the day. It's pretty colorful. And again, there's group spaces. So you're gonna use your group space and you're gonna collaborate with your group mates. So we're gonna be in group breakout rooms again. And the first part is about me, myself. Second one is about the tool. And the third one is about us as a group. So first one, what was your key strategy to make the AI understand your mood or your emotion? So you might have tweaked the prompt a little bit or you wanted to highlight certain parts. Or you think, oh, the fact that I used this word was really powerful. Anything? Feel free to add more sticky notes. The color doesn't matter except for part two or three, because for part two, we're going to use greenish paper for what AI did well. Could be, I don't know, it expressed this well, it did this well, it made that well, but it messed up because of that, or they didn't, they're not good at doing this and that. For us part, why did others feel different emotions? What was the biggest confusion? Or if for your song or for your guesses, you were always right and everyone got the same emotion for your song, great. Then let's talk about what made us so successful on the great note. So feel free to add more sticky notes by clicking here. And then after you guys are done with all those parts, you're going to come up with one conclusion note that includes a few sentences, probably two or three or even one is fine. That sums up whatever you guys came up with here. But first, finish all those three parts by coming up with as many sticky notes as possible and then come up with conclusion notes as well. So we're going to first spend five minutes on filling out those sticky notes. Step by step. First one, second one, third one. And then another five minutes to come up with a conclusion. And since we're going to let you guys discuss, feel free to speak up. At least just like one word input. And Ali and I are just there just to facilitate and help. So I want your thoughts and your ideas. But yeah. So see you guys in breakout rooms. Oh, you guys are already starting. bye
Are we Are we supposed to, like, do it individually or are we supposed to, like, discuss and do it together? I think we're doing it together just because there's only one word. Okay. Yeah, I think the keywords was really helpful because I used the word hope. And then, like, a lot of people, when they guessed my thing, they said, like... hope or like some like synonym of that so i think that was really helpful yeah i agree um i think it's kind of getting like at least the emotional tone like positive or negative right i'm gonna say straight to the point emotion like no fluff yeah um what did the ai do well and mess up um
i don't know none of them like sounded like crazy good
yeah none of them just like sounded like anything i would actually listen to i'll say inter I think I spelled interpreting wrong, but whatever. Interpreting keywords. I said for a good... um and then what did other feel what did others feel different emotion what was the biggest
probably just it's like when you like throw something in a soup and then all mix it together and it's like a different it's like when you like you know when you put all the colors together and you blend it and it turns brown it's like that
Yeah, I agree. Why did others? Yeah. here's the difference okay and then after we do that is that it or do we do more that's it
oh after you guys have come up with the keywords try to come up with as many as possible and then oh yeah also try to break sentence oriented sticky notes into like several keywords. Feel free to add more sticky notes. And then you guys can come up with the conclusion notes on the right side as well.
All right. Okay.
Oh. I have a quick question this is more like out of personal curiosity I would say I guess the second conclusion was um anyone anyone wouldn't realistically listen to what do you think the cause was the cause like what was the reason for it because like out there in the actual real world some people actually do enjoy listening to air music and I was kind of like
skeptical about it as well I mean for me I think that um like essentially um some of the music it like it like generates the beat like good and all that um like it might be a bit off and all sometimes but the type of I the type of music I like listening to is like lo-fi and all that and like while studying and maybe even like calmer music like a variety of music so I think like I wouldn't say anyone wouldn't realistically listen to this but I'd say that like um I don't know many people that do so maybe I should like rephrase that
oh it's okay it's okay it's totally fine how about you guys like what what do you guys thought of the
music that you listen to like i just think it like all kind of sounded really similar in general and that like you can kind of like it just like has like some sort of like after like i don't know just like some sort of thing that like is kind of similar through it all and i don't know like if i'm listening to music if i really want that part of it
i see do you listen to a lot of music in daily basis yeah like in my car when i'm driving or like
but yeah so i feel like when i'm listening to songs like i can feel like such a difference between each and every one of them but then when we were listening to like these songs it was harder to find a difference
Oh, so like it was all similar. Yeah. I see. That's oh, that's a great point. Hmm.
Yeah, I noticed that too. So that's a pretty good point.
Yeah, that's a really big point. Do you think I would be able to generate something special or different with some human input?
That's what I was kind of thinking of, like how we could put something in different that would make it change. Yeah. like in diving deeper into that but like as of like what we're doing right now i just like couldn't
really
true huh i see maybe just bringing your ideas from the first session well you where you guys designed the tool yeah great music i think that might put some uh uniqueness to it yeah thank you thank you for sure yeah i was just really curious because i i walked to some cafes and i um hear some songs that are generated by ai and i'm like really well yeah do people actually notice it or not but
I'm just gonna say like for me music is really important to me and I listen to a lot of rap so lyricism and um like having personality and very I like finding really niche songs and a lot of them have like even like cultural or political like themes and i feel like ai can't really recreate that personality oh personality wise
what if like you can also design a personality of ai maybe i'm not sure but i don't know on like um
like fl studio or whatever music problem you have 100 control so i think it helps to create that sense of like uniqueness i see that's a really good point
what if or you can actually tweak the song generated by ai like afterward
maybe but i just don't know to an extent and like how much data the ai would need to make it when you already just have like the real song it's kind of
true that's a really good point interesting thank you thank you all for sharing oh um i think we also need conclusion point for the last note feel free to discuss it Okay. I guess everyone's back now. And let me share the screen once again. All right. So thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts. It was really interesting to see the comments and your sticky notes. And now it's time to share because we have a lot of great insights and we had chances to exchange the songs and ideas. So let's hear from... So each team about, probably you can just use your conclusion notes to conclude. Oh, if you haven't done it yet, I'll give group one a little bit of time to work on it. You can just go ahead and wrap it up and like sum up your ideas. I saw group two finishing up early, so I'll go with group two first. So group, anyone from group two, if you could... And yeah, share your thoughts.
I can share our thoughts what we did. So our first one, like our conclusion was the key strategy we found was that using like straight to the word points, like keywords using those really helped the most. And that's what it focused on the most. And then for... like going well we think that it like did a good job of creating the beat to your liking but it wasn't like all of us kind of agreed that we wouldn't really listen to that music on our own um because it kind of all had like the same tone in a way or something and then um it like I said it like kind of like blends together keywords so like it all like kind of like we were kind of wondering how we could make it go to different but they all like all the ones we created were kind of vague and making it hard to interpret what I was trying to get at.
I see thank you um I had some chances to talk to group two as well it was really interesting how they pointed out it all sounded similar but overall had good good qualities and Yeah, but it's interesting because it's not even that all of you guys use the same tool. At least there are like at least two tools used, but still it's kind of sound the same. So great analysis. So while we give team one more time, and let's go to group three. Anyone from group three wanna share your thoughts?
I think that the main key strategies that we used was being specific, especially with the genre of music that we were aiming to convey. And then we thought that the AI did well with surface level emotions that I guess would be like a little easier for like an AI to like understand like for example like happiness or like sadness but it also struggled at times with like having more like multiple emotions especially when like some of the emotions were like more subtle like for example like longing or like it could be less up to like interpretation um and then i think that like um one of the biggest confusions overall in our group was that like it was um the ai could have been like limited with like how it interprets like the prompts um and like
how diverse of like music it can create oh thank you for sharing so i guess the third point was really similar to group two and the second point about how it can't really interpret subtle emotion i haven't thought about that that's a really great point so i'll i need to think about that as well thank you for sharing so let's go back to team one um if you're not ready just you can share whatever you've got but oh you already filled it in nice that's quick okay um anyone from team one want to share
i can do the first one mm-hmm For like key strategy, we said use a lot of like the keyword theme and theme words. For example, like happy or upbeat or things like that. And also like trying to use as many details as you can, like setting and everything. And as well as like just generate it as many times as you can.
Do you remember how many times you tried it? I did it twice. Twice. Thank you. All right. Anyone want to share two and three?
Yeah, I can do the next one. So I think our group, we figured out that we used two different platforms, so I believe me as well as somebody else used yudio um and then there was another one i forget exactly what platform it was maybe someone can say what they used oh yeah no it was that one um and so the that one was like pretty good at keeping the mood and like keeping the overall vibe of the song but I believe they said that both of their songs didn't have any lyrics really even when a prompt was given um so they were just kind of left with this instrumental piece but it did capture the mood like really well and then for the yudio one um i used that one as well and it like i told it to have a powerful song to it and it took it in a totally different direction and like some people even said that it sounded like calm or like spooky and so i thought that was interesting but it did keep like location of my prompt really well And I thought that the overall like song and lyrics were good, just like not the vibe I was really looking for. And then the last or conclusion I wrote, basically the same thing with the mood and the lyrics, but I specifically... did say that I think with the mood um someone wanted their theirs to sound a little bit more happy or upbeat um and I definitely wanted mine to be more powerful so I think those are the two maybe like faults between like those two platforms at least um yeah oh great points I also really
wanted to ask um there were three given but only Muber and Udio was used throughout every group why did you guys not use my sample? I was just curious. Any reasons?
I specifically used Udeo because I remember it being my favorite one from when we explored all of them. I remember my sound full. It didn't have very good or as good, I guess, as variety. And I thought that the different... moods of the songs were very compartmentalized and then for the mubert one um i think that one's totally fine but it just kept on saying mubert and his French accent and i didn't really think that that tag was always gonna really work with the genre of music i was going for so i decided to you do
yeah i also found a really hilarious how it's gonna save me for mine i tried to log into the mindset my soundful and it just wouldn't work so i just logged into the other i don't know if
that's the same experience for everyone else but i see oh thank you for sharing um can can others also share like why they didn't use my soundful anyone else like specifically tried it but didn't use it
I tried to use my sound for like a created account, but I couldn't find like where you would put in the prompts. So I just started to do it on Mover. I see.
It doesn't really have a good user interfaces. Great point. Thank you. It was really interesting to see all of your thoughts. And I am gaining a lot of insights as well. So thank you everyone for sharing a lot. And if you have more thoughts that you want to share, feel free to share it through the journal as well. You can say more than what you want. And next time we're gonna actually make a rule book which might really contribute to the future services that are gonna be made. I'm actually getting mentoring by someone in Adobe and I talked about this project and he was pretty interested as well. We can, who knows, like it might really be considered in the future when they develop such tool. So yeah, it's pretty much the most important part. So I'm looking forward to it and I'll try to make it fun and not just writing down the rules. And in the journal, I've added this question. Is there any particular emotion or story you think AI has a hard time capturing? You can talk about specific story or you can just talk about broadly like this kind of story or emotion. And yeah, or you can also leave more thoughts about anything. And yeah, this is like, yeah, group announcement and I'll hand it over to Ali.
Thanks Dani. This one was really fun in my opinion. It was so cool to hear all the different songs. Kind of sad my group only had four people because I'd love to hear more. But hopefully you guys enjoyed that activity and again next session we'll also have Dani join us and we'll actually start thinking about what a tool could look like. I do have a couple of little reminders or not really reminders but if you guys saw the email sent out yesterday from Jonathan there are a couple links that you put in there. The first one is a survey that my the nonprofit I work at we are collecting responses for. It's basically for our summer program called the Digital Civics Academy and we want to hear your guys's thoughts on speakers that you want to see and so if you fill that out it takes like five minutes and it could be they could be a speaker at our program and also you'd be entered into a raffle for a little prize and that program is also open to you guys but more details later and then the second link that you put in there is for a teen-led mental health summit that I think a previous YAD members are part of but I actually will be at that conference as well So if you guys want to meet me in person, it's a really cool opportunity. It's in Brenton, so it's a little bit I think it's pretty close to most of you guys. It's on a Saturday in March, and I believe it's like five dollars for student tickets. So come. It's going to be really fun. I know they have a lot of like. um Washington state like lawmakers that are gonna be there and like students and all of that there's gonna be like speaker sessions and workshops so highly highly recommend and I'll put the links in the chat but once you guys fill out one question in your research journal you guys can leave and we'll see you in two weeks And of course, let us know if you have any questions. -
